Every plan differs in exactly one way that matters: how many packages nobody has analysed yet you can send to the sandbox in a month. Here it is, without the grid.
FREE · $0
No deep analyses. Verdict lookups only, capped at 100 a day. Mantis still runs and still tells you which of your packages have no verdict yet.
INDIVIDUAL · $14 / month
150 deep analyses a month, for one user. The plan stops at the limit instead of billing you for going over.
TEAM · $349 / month
2,000 deep analyses a month, pooled across up to 10 users. Flat rate, so the eleventh dependency costs the same as the first and nobody is billed per head. Overage runs at $0.02 an analysis.
ENTERPRISE
More than 10 users, negotiated volume, and the option to run the sandbox inside your own network.
One package at one version, run once. A lockfile of 400 dependencies is at most 400 analyses the first time and zero after that, because results are cached across every customer. In practice most of your tree is already known.
Verdict lookups, and Mantis itself. Asking whether a package is already known bad costs nothing on any paid plan. You only spend an analysis when you ask for a package nobody has run yet.
Team overage is $0.02 per analysis, and you are told before you get there. Individual stops at 150 rather than billing you by surprise. Nothing auto upgrades.
MANTIS
Free on every plan, including the free one
Mantis is the binary you run inside a project to collect its dependency tree. It is open source and it is not a line item. Team gets it on every machine because that is how a team uses it, not because it is gated.
$0, MIT licensed. No account needed to read or build it, no telemetry to turn off, no seat count.
The lookups, which are free on paid plans and capped at 100 a day on Free. That cap is the only reason Free feels like a trial.
Only the packages it finds that nobody has analysed. Those go to the sandbox and come off your monthly allowance.
OBSERVATORY FEED API
Priced separately, sold on its own
The feed is a different product with a different meter: requests, not analyses. It does not require a scanner plan, and a scanner plan does not include it.

Before you pick one
What exactly is a deep analysis?
One package at one version, installed and imported in a fresh sandbox with its system calls traced. It is the expensive thing, so it is the only thing metered. A verdict that already exists is a lookup, and lookups are free on every paid plan.
Is the Team allowance per person or per team?
Per team. All 2,000 sit in one pool that up to 10 users draw from, so a quiet month for one developer subsidises a busy month for another. Nobody is billed per head.
What happens at the eleventh user?
Team covers up to 10. Beyond that it moves to Enterprise, where both the user count and the analysis volume are negotiated rather than fixed.
Will 150 a month be enough on Individual?
Usually, and not because 150 is generous. Results are cached across every customer, so you only spend an analysis on a package version nobody has ever run. On a mature project most of the tree is already known and the first scan costs far less than the dependency count suggests.
Do I pay for Mantis?
No. It is open source and free on every plan, Free included. It is the client, not a feature. What can cost you is what it finds: unanalysed packages go to the sandbox and come off your allowance.
What happens if I run out?
Team keeps going at $0.02 an analysis and warns you first. Individual stops at 150 and asks. Neither plan upgrades you without being asked.
Does a scanner plan include the Observatory feed?
No, and the feed does not include a scanner. They are separate products with separate meters, and either can be bought alone.
What is the annual price?
Two months free, so $12 a month on Individual and $291 a month on Team, billed yearly. Enterprise is quoted.
